When restoration began, the extent of deterioration at many buildings at National Park Seminary was at an extreme level. One building had already been lost to arson, and several others were seen as beyond repair.
Despite all this, The Alexander Company, a national leader in historic preservation and rehabilitation, took on the task of saving National Park Seminary and restoring it to its original glory.
A comprehensive, painstaking restoration process ensued: artisans from across the country were brought in to restore ornate details, statuary, and a fountain in front of the Main building; the entire structure was strengthened and solidified; modern heating, cooling, and soundproofing was implemented; over 170 different window types were painstakingly restored by hand. The 13-acre glen, once overgrown and overtaken with invasive species, was cleaned up and interpretive walking trails were placed throughout. The result is a truly one-of-kind collection of homes in a unique environment. |
